This European-flavored Long Beach home hosted numerous stars during the golden age of Hollywood, its current owner says. It is listed for $549,000.

The five-bedroom, three-bath stucco house is on a 50-by-100-foot lot and comes with a red tile roof.

Interior designer Bobbi Buzzell, who has owned the Spanish-style home since 1979, says her father, Samuel, built it when he was a young attorney in 1925. Among his Hollywood clients — and frequent visitors — were Burt Lancaster, Harold Heck, Merv Griffin and Cab Callaway.

“Merv Griffin spent just about every weekend here for two or three summers,” she recalls.

During the warm-weather months, the backyard was “the Mecca of the home,” Buzzell says, filled with barbecues, tennis and swimming. A detached garage was converted into an elaborately adorned speakeasy-style mahogany bar.

“Something was always happening — it was always jumping back there,” she says.

Inside, a foyer leads to a living room with high ceilings and a gas fireplace. A small staircase leads to the dining room, which is trimmed with arches and decorative iron railings. There is a heated sunroom and a full basement as well.

Behind the dining room, there is a kitchen, two bedrooms and a full bathroom, as well as a first-floor master bedroom with a bathroom en suite. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, a full bathroom and sliding doors that open to a small second-floor deck.

An adjacent lot, containing pair of 90-year-old copper beech trees, is available for an additional $300,000 and can be developed, Rubin says.
