A cape that morphed into a Victorian is up for sale
This Victorian-style house was once a standard Levittown cape. The owners added the porch and other features that makes it stand out. It's on the market for $439,900 in March 2015.
The Victorian-style home for sale in Levittown was once a standard Levitt cape, of which thousands were built. Throw in some architectural gingerbread trim, a wraparound porch with a gazebo, and shutters and trim in a contrasting color and you get a Victorianesque Levitt cape that has lost nearly all of its cape-ness and really stands out among other homes in the area.
Listed for $439,900 with Richard Claiborne of Century 21 American Homes, the four-bedroom, two-bath house has been on the market since Nov. 28 and has had one price reduction.
"I always wanted a front porch on my house," says seller Patty Harding, who has owned the home with her husband, Bob, for 37 years.
She says she was inspired by the iconic homes in Cape May, New Jersey. The Hardings added an eyebrow window over the front door and a Victorian globe streetlamp to the center of the front walk.
Over the past five years, improvements such as a new boiler, replacement of any aluminum wiring, hardwood floors in the dining room and a backsplash in the kitchen were done. Other amenities include central air-conditioning, a massive brick fireplace, a koi pond (the fish are included in the sale), a kitchen built with granite and a 1.5-car garage.
