LI's "Tri-Hamlet" residents turning optimistic

Over the years, Mastic Beach and its sisters, Mastic and Shirley, known as the Tri-Hamlet area, has battled a reputation of abandoned “zombie” homes and absentee landlords, compounded by the damage from superstorm Sandy.
