A bidding war over a multimillion-dollar Mill Neck property recently ended when the furnished seven-bedroom, 12-bathroom house closed for $13 million to a buyer from China.
The 14,000-square-foot home on 10 acres comes with a 3,500-square-foot guesthouse, and the last asking price was $13.995 million, says Emmett Laffey, chief executive of Laffey Fine Homes. Paul Tyree, who listed the house, says that the house sold for $11.5 million. The additional $1.5 million was for the purchase of the furniture.
The house was completely rebuilt seven years ago and has a 60-foot custom pool with landscaping overlooking the water, Laffey says. The house itself is at the end of a long, winding road with private gates to the ultra-private estate, he says.
"It was as private as private could be," he says.
Interior features include custom silk wallpaper in the dining room and a marble entry into the home.
