North Fork's Quawksnest closes for $5.5M

The Cutchogue estate known as Quawksnest has sold for $5.5 million, according to the Multiple Listing Service of Long Island website.
It is believed to be one of the highest private residence sales on the North Fork, according to Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty, the firm that listed the property. The asking price was $6.5 million.
Avelno, Llc., a limited liability company, is listed as the buyer in real estate records of last week's transaction.
Bradley Krause, one of Kinko’s founders, and his wife, Stuie, owned the 17-room home. Stuie's family had owned the property during the 1950s and 1960s. The Krauses bought the property from another family in 2003 for $3.5 million. They renovated and expanded the 1896 house. Designer Bunny Williams decorated the interior.
There is a barn, perennial gardens, a brick ice house and a Peconic Bay beach. The property contains 1.2 acres.
Daniel Gale's Louisa Hargrave was the listing agent. Janet Markarian of Century 21 Albertson Realty brought the buyer.
