This recently renovated 1,312-square-foot Cape listed for $599,990 is in Massapequa — on an island connected to the mainland via a 25-foot bridge.
“Where do you get a little island in the middle of a big town?” asks owner Janet Pecora, who is listing the property with Alec Katz of Realty Connect USA. “It’s a little oasis. You can canoe around the whole island.”
The three-bedroom, one-bathroom house, which has views of Great South Bay, has a deeded dock and a fireplace. There are about 40 other houses on the island.
Pecora says she bought the house about two years ago, after it was damaged by Superstorm Sandy.
Pecora, who owns a few houses nearby, says renovations included new wiring, some walls, porcelain floors, mint cherry-wood cabinets and a hot water heater.
“It was a total renovation. It’s basically like a new house,” she says.
