Rich Cribs: Cold Spring Laboratory was to fill this home with eugenics records

Listed for $1.149 million, this Laurel Hollow brick-trimmed stuccoed structure designed by architects Peabody, Wilson and Brown was originally built in 1914 for railroad executive E.H. Harriman’s widow, Mary.
It was later donated to the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory for a new Eugenics Records Office, writes Laurel Hollow historian Elizabeth L. Watson in her book “Houses for Science: A Pictorial History of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.”
The residence, known as Holly Hall, features a vegetable garden as well as the original greenhouse that was used by the laboratories. The property is said to boast some of the area’s largest tulip trees.
