A Georgian Victorian in East Islip is on the market for $4.5 million. It has a waterfront view of Champlain Creek, three separate houses and a handlaid brick patio that brings the property together. Credit: Handout

The patio feels like “something right out of Italy,” says listing agent Matthew Arnold of Netter Real Estate. All the French doors of the living room, kitchen and atrium open to the patio. There’s a direct view of the canal and the bamboo and maple trees that are planted along the waterfront.

The five-bedroom, 4.5-bath main house has a two-story crown atrium that the current owners use as a sort of greenhouse because it has floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The house also features deep and wide fireplaces with imported marble or mahogany panels, and a private library.

Outside, there’s a pool and pool house, which has its own changing room, bath and outside shower. The entire property is surrounded by wrought-iron gates. And just outside the gates is a two-bedroom, 1.5-bath guesthouse that comes with its own two-car garage. -- Elizabeth Gyori

Dark oakwood paneling, more reflective of the time period, was installed in what is known as a gentleman’s library as were leaded glass windows. The updated custom-built, eat-in kitchen mimics an English design from the 1930s with wooden counters and beamed ceiling.

The original garage was demolished to make room for an extension that includes a conservatory imported from England, family room, study and two-story wing. There are six bedrooms, five bedrooms and three half-baths. Other features include four wood-burning fireplaces, a guest suite, attached two-car garage and a bluestone patio on the one-acre parcel. -- Virginia Dunleavy
