Originally a wedding gift to the child of a member of the Knight Ridder publishing family in 1934, this majestic Old Brookville house listed for $6.25 million is a replica of an 1800s Georgian English manor. It’s on 11.41 secluded acres with a serpentine driveway leading to a courtyard.
“Some of the most intriguing aspects of this home are the 13-foot ceilings throughout the principal rooms of the first floor and the two foyers,” says Michael Piccolo of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, who is co-listing the property with Lois Kirschenbaum. “The reception foyer has magnificent oil-painted murals on panels that appear antique and depict the four seasons in a Dutch village.”
The main Georgian foyer is 50 feet long with heavily carved, imported oak doors that are said to be replicas of doors in the White House.
