OCEAN TO THE BAY. The kitchen of this Water Mill house has a view -- and more. CLOSET SPACE. What do women really want? A walk-in shoe closet right next to a walk-in clothes closet. That’s just what the owners of a postmodern home, on the market in East Quogue for $2.095 million, designed for themselves. There is enough shelving to accommodate 105 pairs of shoes, plus room to spare for handbags, says Mariko Pichardo, co-listing agent with her husband, Leandro, at Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate. “They share the closet, but it’s really for the missus,” she says.

Both closets are off the master bedroom and were originally a bedroom and closet. Another large closet in one of the original five bedrooms was converted into a gym.

The homeowner, an architect, redesigned most of the interior after construction of the house was completed in 2005 by local builders Curto and Curto. Pichardo describes the house, on a one-acre plot, as “a real Hamptons-styled, cedar-shingled home.”
The first level has an open floor plan, and outside there are three levels of mahogany decking that lead to a patio and heated gunite pool with LED colored lighting. There’s a two-car garage with a Gladiator storage system, radiant heat flooring in the master bedroom and 51 / 2 baths, including “his” and “her” full baths in the master. -- Virginia Dunleavy

TWO-STORY GARAGE. A detached two-story second garage with a power lift houses one Glen Head owner’s vintage Triumph TR6 and Corvette, and, though the cars don’t come with the house, the property is available for $1.2 million .

There is a separate attached one-car garage. Both garages are heated. Motion sensors in the main and upstairs hallways of the house light the way up and down 12 steps .

Among the house’s other high-tech features are an 11,000-kilowatt generator that activates within 30 seconds after a power outage and a pool heater that heats the water 1 1 / 2 degrees per hour faster than most pool heaters .

The 2008 stucco and stone Colonial on a 60-by-120-foot lot has five bedrooms and three baths. The house has mahogany doors and banisters. There are outdoor and indoor kitchens, both with Viking appliances, and radiant heat throughout.
