This Colonial in Rockville Centre, now on the market for $1.199 million, is said to have romantic origins — it was custom built in 1941 as a wedding present for the original owner’s new bride, says listing agent Silvia Rowney of Coach Realtors.

The current residents, the home’s second owners, expanded the floor plan in the back of the house, creating a larger kitchen with a breakfast area on the first level and adding a bedroom to the second level. The master bedroom is on the first level. There are a total of five bedrooms, two bathrooms and a half-bath.

The living room has a wood-burning fireplace surrounded by built-in shelving with leaded pane glass doors. A butler’s pantry, complete with wet bar, is next to the formal dining room.

Other features include hardwood floors, a den, a recreation room and an attached two-car garage.
