A historic Sag Harbor home that was destined to be torn down has sold for $1.325 million.
Called the Morpurgo House, the 210-year-old home in the heart of the village has been in disrepair for decades and went into foreclosure, according to published reports.
The Sag Harbor Village Board had planned to demolish the home for safety reasons before it was auctioned off over the summer, says real estate agent Scott Strough of Compass who, along with broker Christian Lipp, were the brokers on the sale.
Strough says he and Lipp will assist the new owners with the renovation project.
“The new buyers are looking to bring the property back to its [former] grandeur,” Strough says.
