Sagaponack home designed by James Michael Howard listed

Interior designer James Michael Howard, who put a fully furnished Water Mill mansion on the market last year, has built another property in Sagaponack. The $18.995 million price tag includes the furniture and artwork.
Howard says the seven-bedroom home, called Boxwoods, which sits on 2.2 acres, is inspired by British architect Edwin Lutyens, who was known for his imaginative style.
“It’s Edwin Lutyens meets Coco Chanel,” Howard says of the home’s style. “The architecture speaks loudly, but in a subtle way.”
The home has plaster walls, whitewashed hardwood floors, custom-made rugs and eight fireplaces. In the kitchen, a pair of armoires made of goatskin and cerused ash serve as the pantry. There is a custom-designed pool table on the lower level, where there’s also a home theater, gym and massage room.
“It’s sort of Tuscan style and done in ebonized oak,” Howard says of the pool table. “We designed it specifically for this house, and there isn’t another like it.”
Outside is an underground grotto with a tennis court and a view of the 65-foot pool.
Howard’s Water Mill property, which came on the market last year for $24.95 million, is now asking $19.75 million. Both properties are listed with Gary DePersia of The Corcoran Group.
