A Sands Point mansion that first came on the market more than three years ago for $38 million is going up for auction later this month.

The 16,000-square-foot, eight-bedroom mansion features a golf simulator, a par-3 golf green with rooftop tee boxes, a basketball court, an indoor pool and a spa and sauna with an illuminated massage room.

The auction, run by Elite Auctions, has no reserve price. Listing agent Shawn Elliott of Nest Seekers International says it has generated a lot of interest in the property. “You know it’s going to sell that day,” says Elliott of the reason behind the decision to host the auction. “If you have enough people interested, who truly love the home and want to buy it, at the end of the day you can truly receive market value.”

The auction will be held at the home. Interested bidders are asked to bring a $100,000 bank check made out to themselves that they sign over to the auction house if they have a winning bid. The sale must close in 30 days.

The house was designed by Gold Coast architect Stuart Narofsky for Sonny Chabra, chair and chief executive of tech consulting firm ASI System Integration.

The house is considered one of the most expensive homes ever put up for sale in Nassau County.
