West 130, a new apartment building in West Hempstead, is ready for occupancy.

Residents started moving in last week, says James Stover, vice president of the Northeast division of Mill Creek Residential, the property owner.

Located at 130 Hempstead Ave. — on the former sight of the Courtesy Hotel — the pet-friendly, four-story building comprises 150 units. Apartment layouts range between 750 square feet to 1,450 square feet and offer a mix of one, two and three bedrooms. Fourth-floor units have lofts.

Other features include high ceilings, walk-in closets and full-size washers and dryers. Kitchens are designed with granite countertops, stainless-steel appliances and an island. There is an underground parking garage, a clubhouse, an outdoor saltwater pool and outdoor fireplace.

Mill Creek Residential modified its short-term rental policy to accommodate Long Island residents temporarily displaced by superstorm Sandy, Stover says. Though rental rates depend on the length of the lease, they run about $2,100 a month.
