Hampshire Farms, an equestrian center on almost 70 acres in Shelter Island, is on the market for $5.85 million.
As lovely as Shelter Island is, when you’re on the farm, it’s hard to perceive its location, says Penelope Moore of Saunders & Associates, who is marketing the property with Dana Trotter of Sotheby’s International Realty. "It is so vast, it feels as if you can be anyplace in the country," Moore adds, noting the property is flat.
There are four barns on the property: The largest, built about 10 years ago, has 11 stalls, a riding arena and an office. The second barn has 14 stalls, while the third has 10 stalls and the fourth has four stalls for ponies. Multiple paddocks are throughout.
Nearly 64 acres are preserved, Moore says, noting 4.25 acres are suitable for building a house, if one desires.
Since the land is flat, Moore notes, the property is also fitting for polo or an agricultural venture.
