An original whaling captain’s home in downtown Southampton is on the market for $7.95 million.

Built circa 1790 by Captain Edward Sayre, the five-bedroom, 4 1⁄2-bathroom home was renovated and restored by the owner, Peter Hallock of The Corcoran Group, who is co-listing the property with Lewis Apito.

“It’s one of the original 18 whaling captain’s houses on Main Street,” Apito says. “It’s been lovingly maintained.”

The home features six original fireplaces, and the property’s English gardens were designed by landscape architect Edwina von Gal.
