Inwood, one of the Five Towns communities, borders Far Rockaway in Queens. From Inwood Park, you can see planes fly in and out of Kennedy Airport, and you can capture views of the city skyline and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, says resident Roy Meserole. The community is also close to Atlantic Beach, adds Sherri Slochowsky of Weissman Realty Group in Lawrence.
The hamlet offers places of worship, eateries, shops, services, car dealerships and an industrial section.
Long-established organizations include the Inwood Civic Association and the Sons of Italy. "We have a good town here," says Meserole, a civic member and owner of the Meserole Funeral Home.
He notes that Inwood is a culturally diverse community where residents get along.
Buyers can find ranches, capes, Colonials, split-levels and multiple-family homes. Affordable homes have been built over the past two decades. The Town of Hempstead owns and operates Bayview Gardens and Inwood Gardens, which have 45 units and 50 units, respectively, for seniors and families, but restrictions apply.
