Stained glass windows and an intricate tin ceiling adorn the library found in this updated circa-1893 waterfront Huntington Bay Victorian listed for $2.5 million.

The library was part of renovations in 2000, when electrical systems were updated and new windows, central HVAC andplumbing were installed, says listing agent Elena D’Agostino of Lucky to Live Here Realty. She is co-listing with Joyce Mennella.

“They kept with the period of the house,” D’Agostino says. Later renovations to the six-bedroom, 4 1⁄2 -bath home on one acre produced a new cedar shingle roof and, in 2013, a new kitchen.

A red sailboat next to a porte-cochere is now a planter and the centerpiece of a teardrop-shaped flower bed in the driveway. A large covered porch offers western views and access to the library and foyer, D’Agostino says. Also part of the parcel is 93 feet of Huntington Harbor waterfront across the street.

A dining room with hand-painted ceiling finishes and millwork includes a converted electric fireplace. There is also a family room with a fireplace. The eat-in kitchen has a professional-grade range, porcelain farm sink and granite surfaces.

On the second floor, a master-bedroom suite includes an en-suite full bath in which the tub has water views, D’Agostino says. There are three additional bedrooms and a full bath on the level; upstairs, the third floor has two bedrooms and a full bath.

Doors off the family room and kitchen open to a backyard patio with an outdoor fireplace and a 1,500-square-foot structure currently in use as family recreation space, D’Agostino says. There is a three-car detached garage. The property includes a man-made stream.
