This Water Mill home, on the market for $4.6 million, is miles from Central Park, but it is connected to the Manhattan landmark. The rear lawn was designed by the late landscape architect Bruce Kelly, who created Strawberry Fields, the memorial to former Beatle John Lennon, says the current owner.
The five-bedroom, 5-1/2-bathroom traditional home has a sunroom with walls of glass that overlook the nearly 1-acre property, which is filled with specimen trees, as well as plantings, privet hedges and a vine-covered pergola designed by Kelly, who died in 1993. There is also a gunite pool and a two-car garage.
“It’s very charming,” says listing agent Marilyn Clark of Sotheby’s International Realty. “You just really enjoy this very special, beautifully proportioned and very romantic backyard.”
Lennon died Dec. 8, 1980, after being shot outside his Manhattan home at The Dakota.
