A raised ranch with waterfront views on Setauket Harbor has been reduced $150,000 to $1.55 million. It was built in 1969 on Johns Road in the historic Strong’s Neck area of Setauket, named for Anna Smith Strong, who was part of General George Washington’s Setauket spy ring during the American Revolution.
The four-bedroom, three-bath, 3,624-square-foot house sits on a 0.7-acre lot on a cul-de-sac and has a new composite dock and mooring and a private beach.
“I’ve loved that we have our own little beach and a dock,” said homeowner Deb Herman, who has lived there for 10 years and is leaving the area. “We can kayak, boat or Jet Ski out to Port Jefferson Harbor, Little Bay or Conscience Bay, or boat across to Connecticut for the day. You can even do yoga on the beach."
Herman, an agent with American Way Real Estate in Port Jefferson who is the listing agent for the house, said her favorite room is the three-season sunroom where she can watch the sunrise over the water. A deck off that room has a spiral staircase that leads down to a covered outdoor kitchen that Herman added.
On the second level, the main kitchen, den and primary bedroom all have water views, as does a lower-level bedroom and entertainment room. A mud room leads to a two-car garage. The house has been updated with geothermal heating and cooling.
Herman said that the house isn’t in a flood zone, so it doesn’t require flood insurance. It’s in the Three Village School District, and annual taxes are $33,118.
