Why it's for sale: Gary, 58, a retired postal clerk, and his wife, Susan, 55, are relocating to Florida.
The Besemers made enhancements to this eight-room expanded ranch since moving in seven years ago. They installed wide plank floors throughout, upgraded the laundry room and tiled the master bathroom, adding a Kohler soaking tub as well.
Other updates include two new skylights, a new roof, new plumbing and 200-amp electrical service. The house, which has three bedrooms and two baths, is set on a third of an acre. There's also an in-ground pool surrounded by a wood deck. "It's a peaceful and private place to relax," Gary says, adding:
"The 200-square-foot Florida/dining room overlooks this pastoral setting with frequent visits from colorful bird life ... An open floor plan includes a 300-square-foot chef's kitchen with a huge island that seats up to six. The family den also has sliders which open out to the pool area.
This house is great for entertaining; there's an open room flow that many of the older houses do not have ... The entire house has Andersen windows and three-zone heating to keep utility costs low ... We have enjoyed everything Brightwaters has to offer: a private beach, tennis, boat slips and the community gatherings in the park two blocks away.
The Bay Shore Long Island Rail Road station is only five minutes away."
