Why you should buy his house: Mattituck

After purchasing the 1974 traditional house in 2008, Don and Sandra began a major renovation to accommodate additional family members. “We created living quarters for Mom by adding a bedroom and bathroom off the family room,” Don says. “A wall on the first floor was taken down to create an open area between the kitchen and living room,” he says. The kitchen was updated to include new cabinets, appliances and granite countertops. Enhancements to the home’s infrastructure include a new hot-water heater, new fuel tank and upgraded electrical work, Don says. The 3,000-square-foot home has five bedrooms and 3-1/2 baths. It is on slightly more than a half-acre parcel with an in-ground saltwater pool, a fenced-in backyard and an oversized detached two-car garage. Don chats more about the home’s features:
“It’s a roomy house that lends itself to family gatherings with nice-sized rooms where people can sit and talk ... The den has a fireplace ... and one of the [second-floor] bedrooms can be used as an office."
