Why it's for sale: Herb, 74, says he and Bernadette, 72, want to travel.
In 1993, the Quinns purchased this 1940 Cape in Reydon Shores, a private bay beach and boating community. The couple, who lived in Syosset at the time, became year-round residents in 2000. At that time, they expanded the house, doubling its size to about 2,000 square feet. The seven-room home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a stone fireplace and a full basement as well as updated plumbing and wiring.
Herb explains: "The house is practically brand-new, given the work on it. We expanded it front to back. It has a pitched roof, so when you come in, there's a loft. Behind that is a modern kitchen, a great room and a bedroom that is 16 feet by 20 feet. . . . I have a workshop and an office in the cellar. . . . A really big draw is the community beach and marina."
