Why it’s for sale: Chris, 82, who is retired from the banking industry, says his place is too big for him now and that he plans to relocate to a smaller property near Sayville.
Chamis is an original owner in the Sunscape North complex. The community was built in 1982. Chris says:
“The house is very deceiving from outside. It looks small until you walk in. There’s a high vaulted ceiling. It’s beautiful, really lovely. It’s an open area. A wet bar separates the dining room and the living room and there’s also a den. The living room has a wood-burning fireplace. . . . The kitchen has oak cabinets and granite counters. There’s a two-person breakfast bar and also a desk area plus a large eating area with a bay window. . . .
"The master bedroom has a master bath with a sunken bathtub and a separate shower. There’s grass paper wallcovering in both bedrooms and wall-to-wall carpeting . . . throughout the unit except for the kitchen and bathrooms. . . . It’s wonderful for entertaining. It’s an open house that made it easy to entertain. And the wet bar made it so much handier.
"There’s a two-car garage. The complex has a marina, tennis courts and a swimming pool. It’s so peaceful here, it’s like you’re in a forest. This is an end unit that backs up to the Southward Ho Country Club.”
