Why it’s for sale: Dianne, 66, and Marty, 71, who are both retired from their own home improvement business, say they’re relocating to New Jersey to be closer to family.

“For me, the centerpiece of this home is the kitchen. It goes from the bay window in the front of the house to the bay window in the back and has an enormous 12-foot island. During family get-togethers, everyone seems to gather in the kitchen. We’ve had some wonderful times here.

"Because we owned our own home improvement business, we added a 16-by-22-foot room that we used as an office. About five years ago, we converted it to bonus space.

"We have a formal living room and a formal dining room. There are French doors from the dining room into the spacious bonus room. . . .

"As our three boys grew and because we have no basement, we added space. We converted an attached two-car garage to a tremendous family room. It’s incredibly easy to entertain in this home.

"We have a center hall, and the holiday music and spirit flows throughout the house. We’ve had large parties of 50 people here. There’s a lot of space and a lot of love in this house. The neighborhood was wonderful for the boys to grow up in, and the Miller Place schools are terrific. It’s a very engaged community. I really hate to leave it.”
