Why it’s for sale Barbara, 68, a retired law firm receptionist, and Craig, also 68, who is retired from an electronics company where he was vice president of operations, say they are relocating to Avon, Connecticut, to be closer to family.

The Schortzmanns bought their 2,267-square-foot home in 1980 and added many architectural details, as Barbara explains:

“The biggest feature of the home is the living room and the exceptionally detailed molding around the marble fireplace, plus the built-in bookcases on the sides of the fireplace. The real estate agents love the large three-season sunroom and large deck along the back of the house. You can walk through sliding glass doors into the sunroom and also sliding glass doors onto the deck from the dining room. Our kitchen windows are floor to ceiling, so you have beautiful views of the deck and the parklike backyard. . . . All the windows were replaced a year ago and a new roof about six years ago. We have leaf-guard gutters for easy maintenance from the trees. The deck is lovely for entertaining and, with the sunroom, you never have to worry about the weather when planning an event. . . . We converted from oil to gas heat in 2011. . . . Two of the bedrooms are master-size, and one has a walk-in closet and full bath. There’s hardwood oak flooring throughout the house.”
