“It’s an 1873 fully restored Victorian with period chandeliers and door and window hardware. We had to do everything — scraping paint, replacing windows. We replaced [broken] wavy glass panes with wavy glass panes.

"It was an extremely sound structure that needed a lot of cosmetic work. Plus we did new heating, plumbing, and electrical. We have original wood interior shutters that fold into the wall. . . . There’s a fabulous flower garden in the front. The entire grounds are meticulously landscaped.”

Carole adds:

“We have 10-foot ceilings, large light-filled rooms and a huge wraparound porch. The first-floor master suite has its own bathroom. There’s another master suite on the second floor. . . . We have two working fireplaces, one in the kitchen and one in the living room. A decorative but original fireplace is in the library.

"We have two claw-foot tubs, a walk-in pantry in the gourmet kitchen, which has three exposures including a western view of the gardens. We have a large attic and the original root cellar. . . . This home was a labor of love for us for many, many years. Someone’s going to love living in it like we did.”
