WHY IT'S FOR SALE. Maureen, 46, is an administrative assistant at St. John’s University, and her husband, Jim, 52, is an oil tanker broker in Islandia. They say they found another house in Floral Park that they love and want to restore.

Jim and Maureen O’Brien bought their 1893 home at the end of 2005 to renovate and restore it. Maureen says about the home:

“It’s a legal two-family house, but we live in it as a one-family. There was a kitchen on the second floor, but we converted it to a laundry room, so the water and electric are already there .?.?.  Our location is in the dead center of the village. "You can walk to everything .?.?.

"I love the openness of this house. We have tons of windows and tons of natural light. We renovated the kitchen with new everything -- cabinets, appliances, counters, flooring, ceiling, backdoor, lighting .?.?. There’s all-new plumbing and electric throughout the house .?.?. The main-floor bathroom is a full bathroom, and the second one upstairs is a luxury bath with a Jacuzzi tub .?.?.

"You can have a party here and fit tons of people, and the backyard is twice the size of most properties in town .?.?. We put on a porch like it could’ve been in 1893 but with modern materials.”
