WHY IT'S FOR SALE. John, 62, is retired from the pre-cast concrete industry. Mary, 61, is an operations manager for Citibank. They say they want to downsize.
The Knabbes had their 2,700-square-foot home built in 2003. It is a four-bedroom, 2-1/2-bath Postmodern home on a .44-acre lot full of trees. John shares his thoughts on the home:
“We spend the most time in the kitchen . . . It’s big -- 24 by 15 feet -- with beautiful English cherry cabinetry and black galaxy granite counters. . . . We have two reclining chairs in the kitchen. We spend a lot of time there reading. It’s very tranquil. . . . The master bedroom is on the main floor . . . with a large walk-in closet, and we recently renovated our master bathroom. . . . We have a very large shower area with jets in the wall. All the other bathrooms have floor-to-ceiling tile. Every floor, except where tiled, is select oak flooring. And there’s extensive crown molding throughout the home. . . . It’s even in the walk-in closet. . . . We’re in a private beach community. . . . The homeowners’ association fee is $125 a year. . . . In Greenport, you’re away from it all but close to everything you really need or want. . . . When you come home, you still feel like you’re on vacation.”
