Why it’s for sale Gilbert, 59 a retired engineer and Gail, 57, an insurance claims supervisor, plan to retire to Florida where they have family. The couple have two adult daughters — Nicole, 38 and Tamisha, 33.
When the Lordes purchased this legal two-family house in 1975, they were in their early 20s. “We moved in at such a young age, which is something that is rare,” says Gail. “We grew in this home,” she adds. And since they were able to rent the second-floor apartment, they had a supplemental income. Regarding the two-bedroom apartment, it is accessible from the back yard and has a living room, an eat-in kitchen with a pantry and one bathroom. (According to the village, the permit expires in August 2012, at which time it will have to be renewed if rented). The main residence, which has three bedrooms and one bathroom, features a renovated kitchen with new appliances and a tile floor. Amenities include a finished basement and a detached three-car garage. Updates include a new roof, windows and oil burner. The lot size is 50 by 183 feet. Gail chats about the property and the house:
“We have a huge backyard. We’ve love having events in the summer. We’ve hosted graduation parties and a large party when my youngest daughter went into the Navy. ... The house is very homey. ... The enclosed front porch is screened — it’s great in the summer. ... The apartment is income producing, which will help anyone in this market.”
