Why it’s for sale. Ken, 45, a software company executive, and Debbie, 44, a stay-at-home mother of four children, ages 13, 11 and 9, bought a lot near the water in Huntington Bay and will build a larger house.

The four-bedroom Colonial, in which the Knowles haslived since 1999, is about 3,100 square feet and features a large family room, a formal living room, a formal dining room and a two-car attached garage. An additional room on the second floor has no closet and is suitable for an office. The 15-year-old home has two full and two half-bathrooms. Debbie talks about how the home has worked for her family:

“The home is on the end of a quiet block and close to everything. We can walk to the marina, to shops and restaurants, and Heckscher Park. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen and family room ... The spacious granite kitchen opens into the family room ... The finished basement, which is heated and air conditioned, is a great space for the kids to hang out in. We have a good size private backyard and have put a lot of effort into the landscaping. We replaced railroad ties with stone in the elevated areas.
