Why it’s for sale. The couple is in the market for a mother-daughter residence to accommodate extended family. Joe, 48, and Therese, 41, who are both in medical device sales, have two children, Joseph, 6, and Elena, 4.

“Character” is what Joe and Therese look for in a home. And that’s exactly what they found when they first spotted this eight-room Colonial in 2003. “We bought it for the charm,” says Therese, citing details such as molding, bead board, a stained-glass window and rounded entranceways. And though the house was in move-in condition when they purchased it, the LaSpisas added their thumbprint by renovating the kitchen and two bathrooms. “It’s a cute Colonial with a white picket fence . . . It’s a warm house with great energy and just a great history . . . It was built in 1903 . . . It’s solid and well insulated. It stays warm in the winter and cool in the summer.”
