Why it’s for sale. The couple is in the market for a mother-daughter residence to accommodate extended family. Joe, 48, and Therese, 41, who are both in medical device sales, have two children, Joseph, 6, and Elena, 4.
“Character” is what Joe and Therese look for in a home. And that’s exactly what they found when they first spotted this eight-room Colonial in 2003. “We bought it for the charm,” says Therese, citing details such as molding, bead board, a stained-glass window and rounded entranceways. And though the house was in move-in condition when they purchased it, the LaSpisas added their thumbprint by renovating the kitchen and two bathrooms. They also finished the attic, which has a loft ceiling. Other features include a sunroom, three bedrooms and a finished basement. Therese says they also like the location. “We’re close to the water, Northport Village, Huntington and Greenlawn,” she says. Twin Ponds at Betty Allen Nature Preserve is across the street. The .12-acre parcel is landscaped with perennial gardens, Therese explains:
“It’s a cute Colonial with a white picket fence .
