The Hiscocks have owned their waterfront four-bedroom, 1½-bathroom Cape since 1975. The house, in the Bay Park area of East Rockaway, was built in 1950. The 50-by-100-foot property has two rear decks — one bi-level and the other closer to the water — as well as a dock with space for three boats. Connie Hiscock says about the appeal of the property:

“First of all, it’s on the water, and it’s so beautiful. It’s at the wide end of the canal, and it’s deep water . . . We can see Hewlett Harbor and the Seawane [Club] golf course from our deck. ... We’re at the mouth of the bay, and the sunsets are gorgeous. We have three floating docks that can hold three boats. Plus, we have our own little sandy beach on the property . . . We love our home. It was always a party house . . . with lots of guests over. If we weren’t in the yard, we were around the island in the kitchen. The kitchen has two ovens ... a skylight ... and is a nice size ... 19-by-19 square feet . . . The living room has two skylights and a cathedral ceiling. The outside of the front of the house is deceiving. A lot of people think it’s small from the outside until they walk in. It’s a very nice neighborhood, a mixture of young and older [people], and we’re across from the Hewlett Point Beach."
