Why it’s for sale: “It’s time to downsize,” says Shannon, 57.

Since moving into this nine-room split-level in the early 1980s, Yolanda says there has been little turnover on the block. “I’m here since 1984, and still have a lot of the same neighbors,” she says. The four-bedroom house is set on a 60-by-135-foot parcel with an in-ground sprinkler system, a detached two-car garage and a landscaped backyard patio area. Yolanda updated the kitchen in the late 1990s and renovated the bathrooms in 2001. Yolanda, who is in sales, says what surprised her most about the house when she first saw it, was its size:

“This 1,800-square-foot house is deceiving from the outside. It is a four-level split with wood floors, a vaulted living room with a wood-burning fireplace, a kitchen and dining room open floor plan . . . The kitchen has custom built pullout cabinets, a Jenn-Air grill and Italian tile flooring going throughout to the dining room.

"From the living room, go up six steps to the three bedrooms and bath or down six steps through the door to an oversized family room, full bathroom, fourth bedroom and separate entrance which was ideal to accommodate my mother who lived with me. Below that is a full basement and the attic has plenty of room for storage or expansion.”
