Why it’s for sale. Mark, 64, is a photographer, and Leti, 64, works as a nurse. The couple’s children are grown, and “it’s more house than we need right now,” Mark says.

The Deutsches have lived in their 1970 ranch for more than seven years. The four-bedroom, 3.5-bath house is enhanced with architectural details such as intricate custom-designed molding, chair railings and raised paneling .

“Much of the inside of the house stylistically looks like it was built in 1908 rather than 1970,” Mark says. The home’s front entrance, two of the full-sized bathrooms and the circular driveway have been recently updated and an original first-floor bedroom was converted into a library and home office, he says. The house has eight skylights, providing ample natural light. “Lower-level guest quarters have a separate outdoor entrance, eating area, bedroom and bath,” Mark says. He talks more about the house:

“The kitchen and family room are large . . . and have sliding glass doors. The family room leads to an outdoor wraparound deck . . . The yard is nicely landscaped and there’s a lagoon-style pool . . . The location of the house is idyllic. The [204-acre] Welwyn Preserve County Park is in close proximity . It has miles of trails and is adjacent to the Long Island Sound.
