Why it’s for sale. Jean, 66, who is also an executive assistant at Huntington Hospital, and her husband, Albert, 66, who is retired from the commercial building industry, are relocating to North Carolina.

The Schnurrs raised their three daughters in their 1927 Dutch Colonial, which they’ve owned for 40 years. It is on a .17-acre lot and situated two blocks east of New York Avenue. The house has four bedrooms and 1½ baths, and one of the bedrooms is on the main floor. Jean says this about the house:

“The best feature of the home is the flow of the main floor. We enclosed the front porch and expanded the living room to include the porch space. We added skylights over the old porch space and put in large windows. It’s very bright and perfect for plants .?.?. We have a wood-burning fireplace in the living room with a custom mantel and shelving .?.?. There’s a bay window in the dining room, which makes for a nice flow with open space .?.?. We put in a new country kitchen that includes an eating area, a half-bathroom and a TV area .?.?. We have a nice view of the backyard from the country kitchen. We have a back porch that is nice to sit in with a cocktail (overlooking) a fenced-in backyard that is very private .?.?. We have a shed, a semi-in-ground pool and beautiful gardens. The driveway is made with brick pavers .?.?."
