Why you should buy their house in Port Jefferson

The Michoses’ four-bedroom, three-bath A-frame arrived on a flatbed truck in 1970. The three-level 1,800-square-foot home was tucked into a leafy .47-acre lot and went on to be home to the couple and their three children. Mildred chats about the house:
“I love the comfort of being indoors while feeling as though I’m in the outdoors. We’re perched on a hillside overlooking the harbor and the village . . . and we have a winter water view.
"Our main living area is level with the canopy of the trees, so you can see all the natural world going on. In the winter, you can see the lovely twinkling lights of the village . . . We have the luxury of living in the woodlands but still being two blocks from a deli. We’re in real privacy . . . in a lovely neighborhood . . . with lovely neighbors . . . We have two-levels of wraparound decking, and it’s a perfect place to be in the summer.
The main level is very open, so it’s very versatile in how it can be used. There’s a lot of built-in furniture, which provides a lot of added storage. Our garden is designed to meld into the woodlands . . . [It’s a] rain garden . . . [and is] designed so the rain that falls on the property stays on the property.
