Some things never change. For Myrna Gittler, it's the appeal of her home's entrance, which was a selling point when she and her husband, Harold, first spied this nine-room split-level three decades ago. "It's very dramatic," Myrna says, noting the initial view is that of the balcony-style dining room overlooking the living room, where there is a cathedral ceiling. "It's still just as inviting," she adds.

Other features include wood floors and a skylight, as well as a family room with a fireplace and built-in stereo speakers. There are five bedrooms and 21/2 bathrooms. Amenities include central air-conditioning, in-ground sprinklers and a two-car garage. Myrna also has this to say:

"We entertain a lot. What we have learned since living here is that the house has a great flow. We can host 40 to 50 people. We have a two-level deck, which is big, so in the summer we open the doors and people can walk inside and out."
