The Harrises have owned their home, a four-bedroom, two-bathroom 1948 brick Cape, since 1987 and raised their two sons in it. While many changes were made to the interior of the house, the backyard is the source for much of the recreational lifestyle that the family has enjoyed with friends. Paul talks about the home:
“We have a ... backyard with a very large oval swimming pool, cedar decking, a pergola and a covered back porch with room for a dining area and a totally separate sitting area. We have family parties back there with music. People tell us it’s like a resort ... When we moved in, the backyard was a big, gigantic empty plot. Slowly but surely we built the deck, had the pool put in, built the pergola, did the landscaping ... Except for putting the pool in, we did all the work ourselves. When we bought the home, it was a mother-daughter with a small kitchen and small bathroom upstairs. We converted it back to a one-family home and turned the kitchen and bathroom upstairs into one big bathroom with a Jacuzzi [type] tub, a walk-in shower and a vaulted ceiling. We renovated the kitchen four years ago and put in new cabinets, granite counters, a tile floor and stainless-steel appliances.”
