More than three years since the release of Alexa Ray Joel's hit single, "Notice Me," it sounds like the Long Islander is finally set to release new music.

Brimming with excitement Tuesday at Harlow in Manhattan, where she was being honored by US Weekly as one of the magazine's most stylish New Yorkers, the daughter of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley said she has "something very, very big that I am not allowed to discuss coming out on Sept. 16," and it's music-related.

Perhaps whatever it is will give a nod to the music of her childhood. Saying she's " '90s obsessed," Alexa Ray Joel, 27, revealed she has been listening to The Offspring Sublime and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

"I even miss the whole Lillith Fair thing, with Sarah McLachlan, Paula Cole, Sheryl Crow," she said. "When all that stuff was going on, I was about 11, 12, but now I appreciate it more. I feel like the pop songs then were a little catchier and had more substance and vibe to them."

The stylish New Yorker, who has reported on Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for Julib.com, says the return of the '90s extends to fashion as well.

"On the streets I see kids with their grunge construction boots and flannel," Joel said. "And I love crop tops -- I actually cut my tops. It's terrible, but I do it. I'm petite, so I like to feel like I'm not drowning in my clothes."

Also a self-proclaimed foodie, lately she's been scouting new restaurants in New York City and writing about them for Social Life magazine. One of her recent favorites? Sen NYC.

"It's so delicious, and kind of like the more posh, sexier version of the one in Sag [Harbor]," Joel said. "The food is unbelievable."
