Over the course of a dozen years, Northport resident Jerry Mikorenda penned the book “America’s First Freedom Rider: Elizabeth Jennings, Chester A. Arthur, and the Early Fight for Civil Rights,” during his daily commutes to and from Northport on the Long Island Rail Road.
