The literati glitterati will be out en masse when Authors Night returns to East Hampton on Aug. 13 as a fully live-person affair for the first time since 2019.

The 18th annual Authors Night, a fundraiser for the East Hampton library, will feature a starry lineup of more than 30 writers including Garden City's Nelson DeMille, veteran broadcast journalist Katie Couric, actress-comedian Ali Wentworth, actress Tovah Feldshuh, sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer, bestselling novelist Allison Pataki, historian and former Newsday reporter Robert Caro, and newsman Carl Bernstein.

The event will take place at Herrick Park in East Hampton, starting at 5 p.m. with a reception in which guests can meet and mingle with the authors, buy their books and have them signed. Dinner parties follow at 8 p.m. at the homes of one or more of the guest authors.

“As we mark the 18th anniversary of Authors Night and a return to our full, in-person event format, we’re thrilled to also announce a return to presenting the event once again in the heart of East Hampton Village,” said Dennis Fabiszak, East Hampton library director.

In 2020, Authors Night was strictly virtual due to the coronavirus pandemic, and last year was a mix of live events and virtual conversations.

Tickets for the authors reception are $125; dinner tickets start at $400. Tickets will go on sale in mid-June and can be purchased by calling 631-324-0222 or by visiting authorsnight.org.

Funds from the event will be used to present a series of free programs and services at the library, Fabiszak said.
