If books are your bag, then you'll want to head over to The Next Chapter in Huntington next weekend.

The bookstore will be hosting its next $20 bag sale from Friday through March 15, in which customers are invited to bring a bag — or even a suitcase — of any size and fill it up with as many clearance-item books, CDs, audiobooks and records (priced at $8 or less) as it can hold. The price for that haul is a flat $20. (Patrons can bring multiple bags to be filled for $20 each.)

The store's most recent $20 bag sale took place in November, and thanks to social media, was a huge success. "When we posted about it on TikTok, we saw a huge surge of new people from all over who had never been to the store before," owner Mallory Braun said. "A lot of them were young, which is really cool, and they loved it. That was probably the largest influx of new faces we’ve seen over the past few years."

Braun, who previously worked as a book manager at the long-gone Book Revue in Huntington, opened The Next Chapter in December 2022. It's one of a number of independent bookstores that have popped up on Long Island since 2021.
