Rowling pens letter to Texas shooting victim
J.K. Rowling, author of "Harry Potter," has sent a handwritten note to teenage shooting survivor Cassidy Stay, according to The Telegraph, an English newspaper. Stay, 15, alone survived when a gunman killed her parents and four siblings in Texas on July 9. At a memorial service, Stay quoted Hogwarts headmaster Dumbledore: "Happiness can be found even in the darkest times if one only remembers to turn on the light." Word of Cassidy's story reached Rowling, and a spokeperson for the 49-year-old author confirmed, "We can confirm that J.K. Rowling was in touch with Cassidy Stay, however, the contents of the letter remain private. "
