What’s new: Lee Child’s Jack Reacher, an Amos Oz novel, Sophie Pinkham

NIGHT SCHOOL, by Lee Child. JUDAS, by Amos Oz. The Israeli author of “A Tale of Love and Darkness” — made into a film directed by and starring Natalie Portman — sets his new novel in Jerusalem in 1959. An unmoored young graduate student — whose subject of study is Judas Iscariot — comes to live with an aging, ill schoolteacher; betrayal; inevitably, will be a theme. A journalist looks closely at a country that has been much in the news — especially since the 2014 revolution that unseated President Viktor Yanukovych, and the 2015 Russian annexation of Crimea.
