A star-studded country music wedding
Country-music star Blake Shelton, one of the judges on the NBC singing competition "The Voice," wed fellow country star Miranda Lambert during the weekend at the Don Strange Ranch in Boerne, Texas, north of San Antonio.
"I'm married to my best friend!" recent Grammy Award-winner Lambert, 27, told Us magazine after Saturday's ceremony. "Looking forward to a lifetime of laughter."
Said Shelton, 34: "I wanted to be married to Miranda the day I proposed. Finally, it's official!"
The 550 weddings guests included country royalty such as Reba McEntire, Martina McBride and the Bellamy Brothers; movie star Katherine Heigl and her singer-songwriter husband Josh Kelley (brother of Lady Antebellum's Charles Kelly, who also attended); Shelton's fellow "Voice" judge rapper Cee Lo Green; "Legally Blonde" Broadway star and country singer Laura Bell Bundy; and country artists including Kellie Pickler, Dierks Bentley, Neal McCoy and 2006 "Nashville Star" winner Chris Young.
Lambert insisted on no picture-taking by guests, according to a tweet by songwriting partner Travis Howard. "NOOOW I see why [she] said no cameras. There's a dignity lost with certain '80s dance moves that you never get back. Whew!" Regardless, he also called it a "brilliant wedding."
The bride, a 2003 finalist on "Nashville Star," wore her mother's wedding gown, according to People magazine. She and Lambert have dated for five years, after performing "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" together at the taping of CMT's "100 Greatest Duets" in 2006. "Somethin' just happened," Shelton told Nashville.com about that night. "I think we both knew it." He proposed last May.
This is Lambert's first marriage and Shelton's second, following his 2006 divorce from Kaynette Williams.
