A Canadian bit-part actress is on trial on charges of stalking Alec Baldwin.
Genevieve Sabourin (ZHAHN'-vee-ehv sah-boor-EH') is accused of barraging Baldwin with lovesick, demanding messages and showing up outside his New York apartment building.
Her trial opened Thursday in Manhattan.
Sabourin met Baldwin on the set of 2002's "The Adventures of Pluto Nash."
Defense lawyer Todd Spodek says Sabourin and the "30 Rock" actor had a decade-long friendship and a sexual encounter in 2010.
Spodek says Sabourin just tried to get answers — not harass Baldwin — after he lost interest.
Baldwin told a detective his contact with Sabourin was strictly professional.
Baldwin's publicist declined to comment on the case Wednesday.
Sabourin was arrested in April 2012, shortly after Baldwin's engagement.
Sabourin's family is from Candiac, near Montreal.
