After 'Sesame Street' tiff, Perry gets 'Simpsons' role
Pop singer Katy Perry will guest-star in a live-action segment of "The Simpsons" on Dec. 5, in which Homer, Marge, Mr. Burns and the rest will be appearing not as their usual animated selves, but as puppets.
The news comes days after her "Hot N Cold" music video with the Muppet Elmo was dropped from "Sesame Street" before ever airing, after Perry's cleavage in a YouTube preview raised parents' ire.
"In the wake of Elmo's terrible betrayal," joked "Simpsons" executive producer Al Jean on Entertainment Weekly's website Monday - and to be fair, it really wasn't Elmo's fault - "the Simpsons puppets wish to announce they stand felt-shoulder-to-shoulder with Katy Perry."
Jean said Perry, whose "Simpsons" segment was shot in mid-September before the "Sesame Street" brouhaha, sings a "12 Days of Christmas" parody, "The 39 Days of Christmas," with the yellow-hued crew.
Domesticity maven Martha Stewart also appears, albeit in cartoon form, in the episode, "The Fight Before Christmas."
Perry plays a rarefied role in the show: girlfriend of the ever-repulsive bartender Moe.
