Actor Alec Baldwin has donated $250,000 to Guild Hall, the East Hampton arts center announced Monday.
The money comes from a Capital One Bank TV ad campaign in which Baldwin plugs its Ventures Rewards program while promoting New York City arts institutions.
Baldwin, who is shooting a film in Miami, said in a statement: "My partnership with Capitol One serves as a platform to generate awareness about the need for arts funding. Government funding has been significantly reduced and I think that's bad for . . . America's cultural heritage."
Baldwin, who stars in NBC's "30 Rock," has a home in Amagansett. He will emcee Guild Hall's Aug. 12 gala and perform July 8 in a staged reading of Peter Shaffer's "The Gift of the Gorgon" at the Hall's John Drew Theater." He also hosts Hamptons International Film Festival "SummerDoc" screenings.
"Alec's generous donation will help support our mission," said Guild Hall's executive director, Ruth Appelhof.
